2010 ~ 2015 Health & Safety Manager / Advisor, Welsh Government Transport and Highways Department |
I was responsible for ensuring corporate compliance with the relevant legislation and codes of practice covering the activities of the Department which are diverse and spread throughout Wales (180 employees, 5 office locations, 6 road maintenance depots, 4 major storage facilities, fleet of road inspection and custom gritting and snow clearing vehicles). This included provision of health & safety advice and support to our policy teams responsible for oversight of rail and air services in Wales. I also encouraged the safety standards required of our 4 supply chain partners engaged in the inspection and maintenance of our highways network (95 miles of motorway, over 1,000 miles of trunk road) in Wales.
I had special responsibility for the internal investigation and feedback report on 2 major incidents and 4 serious near misses on our roads network in which the work activities of our supply chain were identified as potential factors. Key Achievements
